Penteli is a compact mountain that seen from distance resembles a pyramid or pediment. Maybe the shape of the mountain was the inspiration for the upper architectural construction (the pediment) of the Parthenon, but pentelic white marble is certainly the building material used for the temples on the sacred rock.
The Penteli quarries closed in the late 70s, leaving indelible marks. Marks on which the "Open Air Museum of marble quarrying Arts" intervenes, redesigning the landscape.
