520 _a"This collection of original essays places special attention on Corinth to honor the significant contributions by Darrell A. Amyx to the understanding of that ancient Greek center for which he has become known. The bibliography of Professor Amyx's publications included in the volume attests to his interests in classical and, particularly, Corinthian studies, as well as to his concentration on Corinthian vase painting and its derivatives. Twenty-three essays have been contributed by Amyx's colleagues and former students. The resulting volume adds much that is new to the knowledge of many aspects of Corinthian culture, including history, religion, epigraphy, literature and drama, and arts and crafts. Of special importance is the collection of five studies that shed new light on early Corinthian mythology, religion, and topography. That thirteen essays treat Corinthian and Corinthianizing pottery reflects both the great amount of pottery that is preserved, as compared with other artifacts of Corinthian manufacture, and the major interest of Amyx." -- Back cover.
