Summary: Destruction, revalorization, pollution are terms that we constantly hear in our everyday routine with regard to the situation of the environment. The industrial and technological explosion of the 20th century led to a series of anthropogenic interventions to the natural environment that have directly been incriminated for the modern environmental problems. Is the co-existence of technological growth and the maintenance of ecological balance in the natural environment possible? In the Laboratory of Hygiene and Environmental Protection of Medical School of Democritus University of Thrace, in Program of Postgraduate Studies Health and Safety in Workplaces and in The Department of Technology of The Environment and Ecology of T.E.I. of Ionian Islands in Zakynthos, we believe that this objective is feasible. The development and application of technologies friendly to the environment as well as administrative planning for the protection of nature make up the two pylons which should and can support human activity in the 21st century. Art can contribute to this objective since it possesses the power to awaken the mind, to touch the soul and to mold and maintain visions. Having deep faith in te vision for the protection of the envrionment, we greet with enthusiasm the two-fold Fine Arts creation of the distinguished painter Magda Roussi on the subject of "Painting for the Environment."
